Philips Matchline TV - thin black line across screen?

We have had this Philips Matchline TV for about 8 years and this is the first problem we've had. Sometimes there is a thin black line that appears horizontally across the screen. If we switch the TV off for a few minutes it seems to disappear, sometimes returning and sometimes not! Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be and is it terminal?? Thanks Linda.
