hoover hnl7146 washing machine door handle?

ordered a new door handle for the above no fitting instructions but cant remember which way round the spring was when I took the old one out driving me nuts on trying to figure it out I know its something simple but I cant see it anyone done this little job before? asked espares who I got the part from no help,hoover no help
