Hi My Peugeot 307sw 52 reg brake lights have failed. The bulbs and fuses are ok. Also, the car lights turn them selves on whilst I am driving. Peugeot want £75 per hour plus VAT to diagnose.
Any ideas? Does anyone have a wiring diagram?
Thanks
Thanks to reading these answers.. I did the switch replacement myself... .. Rather chuffed

you must twist anti clock to remove and clockwise to fit get someone to push brake pedal befor fitting hold down and fit then release after fitting, this also affects cruise control

its usually the plunger that is pushed in to far on the brake switch you can pull it out as there are notches on it pull it out one inch then refit it is normaly caused by really heavy breaking that causes the plunger to go into the body of the switch , somtimes the plunger is broke or the switch has gone on the inside so you have to change it ,i got one on ebay for £18 here`s the link copy and paste it in your address bar http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180594143032&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT -also note what type it is some are green ends and some are white replace like with like

Don't forget when you do refit the break switch get someone to push on the break pedal then fit the switch and get the other person to release the pedal. This should reset it properly.

i too have the same problem and have disconected and reconected the plug but still no lights, there seems to be a plug that isnt plugged into anywhere (just taped to another wire), if i were to buy a switch is it easy to fit or do you need to cut wires and things, thanks, Liam..

Just recently purchased a brake light switch and harness for our 55plate 307. Peugeot stated it is a common problem with these models of 55 and onwards. Total cost for parts £30, a 2 minuite fix, located under passenger footwell.

try taking trim off bottom of glovebox 3 cllips i think, then look up behind glovebox with torch. there will be brake light switch 2 wires coming from it. try pushing it in. if still not working probably switch gone. replace brake light switch. also which lights come on when driving??
