hi, mr f here ,just finished got the brake lights working after stripping everything along the path of the loom, good job i was a panel beater, changed and checked each bulb cleaned the , but when looking at them closely the bayonet prongs were pressed in and bent hence dont buy cheap bulbs made in tiwain.fitted factory bulbs cleaned earths thats it really wrong type of bulbs fitted and pushed in with force making what should of been an easy job very hard because of some plonker who forced all bulbs into the holders shorting everything out.well there you are another job rectyfied, thanks all who gave their advice.

yeah thanks4 ur reply darren. i dont fancy scrapping it, i must find the fault cant have it beating me not my style, their is a problem getting the d/seat to slide, but thats just the runners or could have interfered with the loom under the seat as u mentioned, as both brake light and side light come on when i turn on the side lights.tracing the short is going to be an awkward job unless it is a common problem on this vehicle, someone must know.i guess in the mean time i,ll search the loom 4 faults, ill be back with an update in the meantime i need more suggestions from u all cheers mr f.

Sounds like you got a loom short. I had this problem with my L reg cav. Scrapped it in the end because it was costing too much in electric guys fees at £30 per hour lol. You should try the area under the seat where the loom passes through the body, sometimes the loom gets cut here creating a short.
