Once the DVD laser assembly is faulty there is generally no other solution than to replace the laser assembly, about 90% of all dvd recorder faults relate to a faulty dvd drive. As LiteOn uses a standard ide drive (similar to a PC drive) then replacing it as Guy Pender did seems to be the only economic method. I would be interested to know which LiteOn model Guy has and which model ide drive he replaced it with?
