Mend Elna 8000 Sewing Machine Stitches Repair

How to fix the tension on an ELna 8000??

I have an ELna 8000, for years worked great. Now the tension is kaflooey. The lower thread is pulling up to the top layer, and unevenly. Sews for a few stitches fine, then bobbin color is pulling to the top. I've played with tension to no avail. The bobbin side stitches look fine. On other machines I would adjuct the bobbin tension, but I don't think I can on this machine.
HELP!

Hello Amy,
Tighten the screw on the bobbin case about a quarter of a turn at a time clockwise until youi get the tension enough so you can just pull the thread through
