Mend G.E. Panel Oven Door

getting to outer glass panel on 32 yr. old G.E. built in oven door?

On a home improvement show, I saw them replace the panel on a white dishwasher door by sliding the panel out. It was replaced with the stainless steel contact material...really updated it. How do you get to the panel to insert new material? Oven in perfect working condition, so really a waste to replace right now.
