Mend Sharp NP6016 Error Cartridge Ink

np 6016 - toner error?

I have inserted a new toner cartridge but the error of no ink won't go away. What is wrong? Is there a sensor that might be malfunctioning now or is there an ink on the sensor that won't clear it?
