ford escort 1.8 diesel r reg?

my van conked out on a round about. i got it towed home thinking that the belt had probably broke but on inspection both belts are intact.I have tried starting the engine again but it wont start. any guesses what the problem could be

have you changed fuel filter regular?? coz they can block up !! on diesels especially...first thing to check is...is fuel getting to pump?

Probably be the cut off solenoid on the injection pump. If it's the coded key type it can be a bit tricky to change (goldy coloured casing over the solenoid). If you can get the casing off the pump - it can be done - removed the solenoid and replace with the 'un coded' version (£25-30) THEN YOU WILL NEED A LIVE FEED WHEN THE IGNITION IS ON to the solenoid. Should sort it out.
