Kenmore Dryer Model 110 86873100 Stock 68731 Drum Rolls, but no Heat?

We woke up one morning after setting the cycle timer to shut off the night before, and it was still running, but not hot. Not sure yet if timer or thermostat is shot, but does no heat. Could the excessive run time have burned out the element, or is there some kind of safety shut off that can be reset?
