VHS tape stuck in combo tv?

I have a Sylvania TV/VHS combo, Model SSC 130, mfg - Dec. 2000. Tape will not eject, and, as soon as TV is turned on, it automatically shuts off after 30 seconds. Apparently, TV and Tape player are on the same power source. Is there any simple way for me to retrieve the tape and still maintain the TV portion? I called two repair companies and they both wanted at least $100 to make the repair. The TV only cost $115! Would like to sell this in a garage sale, but need to have the TV working, even if the tape portion doesn't work.
