What's wrong with my Indesit machine?

My washing machine began to sound like a ratchet turning all the time until finally it began to give off an electrical smell Can anyone advise ?

possibly bearing's gone & damaged heater element hence electrical burning smell,try putting your hand inside the drum & seeing if theirs any excessive movement up & down
