Mend Beko glacier Freezer Orange Light

freezer on continuously?

we have a Beko glacier upright freezer. When it is switched to the freezer logo the orange light comes on and the motor runs continuously night and day. The orange light stays on also.
is it OK to switch the freezer off to save power?
