Mend Hotpoint 8553 Light Fast Switch

HOTPOINT 8553 RED LIGHT STAYS ON?

The red light on the Hotpoint 8553 fridge freezer stays on even though we put the fast freeze on i.e. switch for orange light. The food is staying frozen but the freezer keeps running i.e. it does not cut out at the right temprature. Does it need a new thermostat or can anybody tell me what else I can do to fix it please.

if the compressor keeps running ad the red light stays on then i would say there is a refrigerant problem. you could check this by putting a thermometer in and checking the temperture, if getting cold enough the problem is the thermostat, if not then a refrigeration problem .
