Why has my Toshiba 40" LCD developed a light band running vertical?

The TV is a Toshiba 40XF355DBLCD and is 13 months old and hence just out of warranty! The band runs vertical on the left side of the screen and is approximately 4" in width. IThe picture is stll fully visible but appears lighter and is more noticeable in certain images. Any idea's on how to cure this problem would be gratefully received!
