I am going to replace my hob, once the old one has been removed do you need to use a sealant to secure the new one in place

Dont use silicon sealer to mount hob as this is very hard to remove should it fail.you can get strips like draught excluder or strips of putty(looks like blue tack) to mount and seal them with.silicon will work but just be aware that many repairers will not attempt to do a repair on it until you remove it!
