Mend Hotpoint Ultima 7 Fuse Replaced Heard

My hotpoint 7 kg ultima digit washing maching fuse has blown?

When I replaced the fuse I heard two pops (like electricity and water in contact with each other) any ideas about possible cause/repair etc.
