no heat in cooker?

hi, can you tell me how i know if its the thermostat or the fan element thats gone ?the fan comes on as usual but not generating any heat.thanks

If the fan is coming on it means that you have got mains to the oven. If you turn the temperature knob to the hi setting the indicator light should switch on. If this happens and you dont get any heat its likely to be the element. if the light doesnt come on it could be the thermostat. In any case you will have to take the oven out of the surround to get to both the devices. Make sure you turn off the mains supply first. If you have got a multimeter you will be able to test the devices whilst you are inside the oven cabinet.
