how can I fix my webcam on hp pavallion dv9500?

the built in web cam on my laptop goes green and red when i am using it on skype. I can see my reflection on the screen but it looks like there's a color problem. When I squeeze the plastic rim just below the webcam on the laptop it fixes the problem. I am unsure why it does this.
