Mend Panasonic DMR-E55 Plug Power Lead

How can I replace the ac in unit on a panasonic dvd DMR-E55?

When I plug in the power lead the ac in unit sparks. Is I have replaced the lead but the ac unit stills sparks. Can I replace it or fix this problem?
