Probably too late and you've sorted it but here goes anyway.

Not related to same camera but when I select manually 'Flash off' on my Olympus it automatically returns to flash ON when camera is turned off. However your's may be different it that if you have turned it off manually it may have to be turned back on manually. Other than that it seems your flash may have had its day.
