How can I make my cistern fill up faster?

I had this problem before and rather than trying to locate the correct parts I just replaced the complete cistern and was very surprised how cheap they were but try and get one that will line up with the existing pipe work as it makes the job really easy. The replacement did not require an overflow as if the cistern fills too much it simply goes into the bowl.
