Mend Volkswagen Golf Vw Boot

How do i fix my VW Golf boot system?

My VW golf boot opens and shuts fine however the air system does not work and I have to hold the boot open to put things in rather than the boot holding itself up.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and thanks for your time.
