Mend Sime 80E Friendly Format 80e Problem

Sime friendly format 80E Intermittent Relight?

I have the same problem as Neil Johnson. Switch on and runs fine, when the temperature has been reached the burner shuts off as normal but sometimes does not relight when it should, turning it off and then back on relights the boiler every time. The problem has got progressively worse over the last twelve months, sometimes it will run fine for weeks and other times you have to relight ten times or more doring the course of a day. I assume the temperature sensors are ok because the fan is being restarted so I am assuming the PCB knows its time to relight. I am guessing either PCB or Ignition control box but am reluctant to gamble due to costs. Help!!

you are right the pcb next to the gas valves is your problem, remove the pcb and with an eye glass check all the solderd peaks and i mean all! carefully and you will find about 15 dry joints [cracks around the peaks of the solder ] it took me 18 months to find this problem but i re solderd mine and bobs your unckel it is now back to normal, it would seem that i am the only guy that knows about this repair, do not give in, the main number of cracks are around the relays and back to the main chip on the pcb,the large resistor at the back of the pcb will get hot ,its normal for it to get hot,i now know this 80e boiler inside outi spent days working out the problem,even sime dont know,they and other boiler repairers say replace the pcb at a cost of £78.00,stick at be carefull and safe and you will win. bob rob.
