Mend Flowing Water Full

How can I fix an over flowing cystern?

My toilet keeps trickling water into the pan after the cystern is full. My toilet is a new style with out a ball cock. How can I fix this?

If it's the same type as mine with a cup type float rising on a ratchet their is a long plastic screw at side of it turn it down until wate stops at level 1/2" below centre overflow. I had same problem.
