Mend Fiat Punto 1.2 Engine Gear Change Clutch

car keeps reving?

about a min after starting my car the revs shoot up till its redlining and when i put it in gear its ok but when i put the clutch in 2 change gear the revs go up again?? how can i solve this? its a fiat punto 1.2

assuming the throttle is not sticking open check for an air leak such as a split hose which is causing the revs to increase
