How do you re-set the dashboard clock on a rover 45?

Has your battery been disconnected or run flat recently? The clock on my 45 stopped after the battery went flat and had to be charged. A year later I found the advice on a web site that the battery should be disconnected and left for 20 - 30 minutes and then reconnected and hey presto the clock was back working!
