bmw 325 estate how can i fix my fuel gauge?

first of all check fuse if thats ok chek if there power going to the fuse if there is its either the wire that goes to the level indicator on your pump or level indicator itself,if its a e36 model,lift your rear seat by holding the front part of the seat then jolt it upwards,this will relaese it off the clips,undreneath you will see 2 flaps cut into the sound deadening material,lift the one behind the drivers seat then you will see a metal cover,take the 4 screws out then lift the cover off,you will see the top of fuel pump and 2 conectors for the pump and fuel gauge,the one for the fuel gauge is the furthest away from the drivers seat,check for power on conector or it may just be a coroded conector that needs cleaning.hope this helps

fuel gauges. get the hayes book on your vehicle and look-up the wiring. most cars,you start at the fuse then to a dash-pot that drops the voltage to the tank to 2 volts and miliamps, then the resistor pot in the tank. But A open circuit will make the gauge go to full.
