Mend Hotpoint Dryer Burning Smell

hotpoint condensor dryer has burning smell?

my dryer takes hours to dry clothes(and i mean hours!!!) even though there is heat. the filter etc seem to be clean and then yesterday it started to smell like it was burning inside the drum. any ideas|?? or should i just buy a new one.

Belt may have slipped off drive pulley so drum is not rotating, burning smell could be belt rubbing against rotating drive shaft.Check under machine for black dust(debris from belt)I have same problem but so far am unable to remove panels to gain access;any ideas?
