oil boiler?

hi we've stupidly run out of oil in our outside tank, some more is coming today thankfully. my question is my father in law has mentioned that there may be air now in the system/boilier and so the boiler shouldn't be fired up. is this so? how will i know? and how am i to fix it - is it simply via bleeding the rads?
thank you

no, he doesn't mean air in the rads, he means air in the oil supply line.

Don't run it til you are refilled. If you do have an airlock the boiler will fire up and run for a few seconds then lockout. You'll need someone to bleed the line for you if this happens.
