I have a Kenmore elite washer I cannot replace the "dog ears" on the agitator. I read somewhere that there is either a bolt or a screw to remove before replacing the "dog ears", but it looks like a bolt with smooth edges, there no possible way of removing it besides breaking off the top of the agitator.
to change the drum paddles you will probably need to remove the inner drum from the outer drum as the bolt fixings are on the outside of the inner drum on most machines.
