Mend Singer 2001 Machine

Why does it sound like it is "cooking"?

I have a "TOUCH-TRONIC 2001" Singer Sewing Machine.

The machine makes a "cooking" sound while it is turned on.


The stitching is very tiny most of the time also. The settings don't always hold while sewing.
