Mend Singer 2001 Full Speed Time

Singer Touch-tronic 2001 gone wild--sews full speed all the time?

My machine suddenly took off on full (very fast)speed while I was sewing. The only way I was able to stop it was to unplug it! Is this fixable?

Hello Vicky,
All that has happened is the capacitor has blown in the foot control, undo the foot control and you will see a big thing that looks like a fuse, take it out and throw it away because you don't need it these days, any problems e-mail me.
