how comes my dvd player is saying wrong region hitachi ax- m138?

I was watching a dvd i stopped it to make a cup of t when i came back it was saying wrong region on the screen

Hi Steve,

I have the same problem, brought mine 18m ago and did thesame earlier this year and I see others on dvdhacks.co.uk have the same but no solution!

I spoke to hitachi uk and they tell me that this a currys own product just badged so they cant help!
As far as I can work out I just need to know the code to set the region as it just seems to have reset itself.
I can play DVD's that have come free with magazines for example but not commercial region2 disks, thinking I may just
get rid of it if I cant find an answer.
