Mend Hitachi PDV313 DVD Player

how can I get my Hitachi PDV313 portable dvd to charge?

We have a Hitachi PDV313 which works on the mains cable but on charging is flashing red then green which in the manual says this is not right but does not tell me how to correct the problem does anyone know?
