Had a similar problem with my Hoover hw1600m washer dryer. Take out three retaining screws at rear that hold on the lid.Take off lid (power off first) there is a little reset button on top of the thermostat switch Watch out it can get very hot!!! on top of drum somewhere, press it and it should reset.
Mine tripped again until I checked what was blocking air flow.
At the back end near the bottom is a black rubber elbow connection between the plastic condenser and the drum - fastened with jubilee type clips - I unfastened mine and pulled out a load of fluff and bits of sock my machine had eaten. Put it all back together and its working again. Hope this helps.
