my Zanussi built in dishwasher is taking water in and pumping out before it enters machine. Have checked filters. hoses all okay Any suggestions

OMG tipping the dishwasher onto its side really works! There's life in our 10 year old DA 6141 yet, great tip (excuse the pun!).

I tried the tip to turn my dishwasher on its side. It worked.

My dishwasher is a Zanussi DE6965 and was giving the AL5 alarm code.

As a ZANUSSI owner I tried tipping the dishwasher on its side ( Kitchen floor got a free wash) But problem solved.

Just tried the tip it on it's side trick after my Indesit dishwasher flooded. Dishwasher is now refilling with water so thanks for the tip. saved me £200!

Our AEG dishwaher floods and then goes into a permanent water discharge cycle even when the thing is switched off. This is deliberate. The way I clear it is not to take it apart but to pull it out and tip it on its side. The water clears and the antiflood device resets everything. Problem solved. Of course why does it flood? Who knows?

This was the same problem with my DE6544, so many thanks. I disconnected the hose and related parts till I reached the vacuum switch and pipe, checked the vacuum switch was working, cleaned sediment etc out of pipe, reconnected everything, and not forggetting to prime the dishwasher switched everything back on, hey presto! it works!!!

Tony, Thanks for your response. I've checked the inlet hose and all filters OK..... Came to the conclusion that the problem was related to the vaccuum switch, but not the switch its-self, as switch operates OK with manual pressure applied.
Have removed the IWMS (whatever that stands for - big blue thing on left-hand side with lots of water channels (NB flooded kitchen when removed, so anyone with similar problem _ BEWARE !!!)... The vacuum switch hoses connect into this unit, so suspect that the problem is related to this.
There seems to be a build up of sediment in this, so next step is to clean out (with pressure hose) and re-build dishwasher (if I can remember where all the hoses and screws go !!), and test.
If this fails --- save up for new dishwasher (as it's a pain in the rear end to wash-up manually !!!)

Firstly check your inlet hose is not kinked, this is the problem 9/10 times.
If not the appliance could be locking out which would usually be solved by changing the IWMS which is the large tank on the left of the machine which incorporates the inlet valve.
Not a particularly easy job for diy mind you.
