Electric Sandwich Maker?

Should an electric sandwich maker which was bought last week in Italy work when plugged in in the UK? At present when plugged in the sandwich plates are not heating but power is being supplied.

If an electric sandwich maker bought in Italy won’t heat up in the UK, it’s usually a voltage issue. Check the rating label — if it’s 120 V only, a UK plug adapter won’t work and a voltage converter is needed. If it’s 220–240 V, the unit may be faulty. Normal heating operation is shown in the manual here:

Simple answer is to look on the label and see what voltage it operates at (sorry dont know Italian voltage). If its 230 - 240 then it should work. Anything else and you could have blown it.
