how can i get better sound ?

My snare drum sounds more like a turner when I hit near the rim. i have changed the bottom skin and yes their was a slight improvement but the fact that its got a turner sound annoys me. how can i get better sound (make it sharp) does this mean i should change the top skin too.?..

Try to get the snare really tught across the bottom skin, try turning the snare off then (using screwdriver or drum key depending on snare) tighten the snare at the other side of the drum, then screw the clamp up again. Put the snare back on, trial and error until you can get the snare on but really tight. This will make a lovely crisp sound.

start by disassembling your drums give them a good cleaning and lube the hardware. then reasamble startlng with the bottom head, finger tighten the bolts evenly then adjust one quarter turn in a cross pattern untill the rinkles are gone, do the same on the upper head and adjust to your liking. hope this helps.

Hi,

I'd suggest changing the snare's. If it's a single snare get a double to replace it, that will give a more sharp 'crack' sound. Also make sure your snares are really tight across the bottom skin.

Hope this helps??
