Mend Hoover TV630

hoover dryer TV630 suppressor?

The supressor exploded (loud bang, blowing the mains trip). The machine was plugged in to the mains and switched on at the socket but not being used.
I have bought a new suppressor but before I fit it do I need to check anything else please?

These caps blow often, especially if the machine has power left on all the time. If you are a little worried you can try to switch it on without the supressor, unclip the feed to the device and feed it straight into the mahine! After all it is only there to filter out noise and spikes, if it powers up then fine, switch off and get a replacement supressor. At least you know it's going to work!!
