how can I tell if my Tecumseh engine is electronic or c/breaker?

Only way to tell for sure is to take off the blower housing and 'eyeball' the connections to the coil (assuming the coil is outside the flywheel). If there are wires going under the flywheel from the coil, it's got points (or a previously fitted conversion - cant tell without removing the flywheel).

If the coil is under the flywheel, you'll have to remove the flywheel and physically check.

If it's less than 15 years old, it will certainly be electronic.
