How to fix a problem with my Washing Machine?

I have a problem with my washing machine. It is an AEG Lavamat 72600 model. When I switch on the machine for any wash cycle, it functions as normal for a few seconds, or few minutes. Suddenly it cuts off with a slight cranky sound, and the green light of the door of the washing machines illimunates (by default). The wash cycle is stopped ! Please tell me the reason why ? (Could it be there is suddenly a short circuit somewhere, during the wash cycle as I suspect ?)
