Philips TV blew out after 6 months. Whats wrong?

It's a known problem.
If the TV is less than a year old, and if you complain enough they will take action.


Customers with this model TV are always made fun of by empoyees.

I would contact Philips service directly as they may be aware of the fault and repair it free, or at a reduced cost via their authorized service centres.

Apparently, they suffer from failure of the mains fuse due to an issue with the degaussing positor. There may be a modification for this, so you should contact an authorized Philips service agent to ensure it's safely repaired.

Parts in that circuit have safety ratings and should only be replaced with Philips approved parts. Although, both positors and fuse are very inexpensive parts, so I shouldn't think it would cost much even if you do have to pay the whole bill.
