Mend Loud Coming Changed

Loud beep during calls?

Sometimes when I'm using my phone, both I and the other person can hear an extremely loud beep coming over the line, normally just once. I changed from analogue to digital some years ago, thinking this would solve the problem but it still persists. Does anybody have any ideas on this please?

This might not help but ... I encountered a similar problem and when talking with one friend in particular. Turns out he had a phone with the number pad located between the ear piece and the mic. He kept hitting his cheek on a digit (hence the loud tone). For years, he was in denial; he was too embarrassed to admit that it was him making the noise. Now I know the cause, the noise doesn't bug me so much.

No, I do have call waiting but that sound is quiet and subtle. The one I'm experiencing is loud and intrusive. Almost makes me jump.

sounds like one of you have a call waiting. ie someone is trying to phone while you are talking.
