sony dcr 100 tape stuck?

I had the same problem on a Cannon camcorder just out of its 12 month warranty recently. The tape is loaded into the camera slot which drops out sideways by pressing a button but although the slot droped out sideways the tape didnt drive up and out as it should. Due to how the tape slot carrier is constructed its is impossible also to get hold of the tape to pull it out

I searched various help sites plus Cannon without success but one chap did mention a tape stuck in camera problem but with a different camera which proved successful for him which was to run down the battery or remove it, leave for a while then try to get the camera to eject the tape. I tried this about 6 times over a 2 week period and was on the verge of actually scrapping the camera or having ago myself to dismantle knowing that the outcome could be a pile of scrap. However, during one attempt to eject the tape with the power battery discharged it suddenly ejected!!!! I cant explain why but it did and has been OK ever since. Therefore suggest its worth a try.
