vauxhall astra 1.6 8v air con alternator?

charging lamp showing intermittently at all engine speeds also loss of power steering at same time, new alternator fitted professionaly only 200 miles ago (garage now in hands of official receiver)
how can i fix it myself

More than likely your new alternator is a dud - check for 14.2v across the battery terminals when the engine is running. Also go over all of the wiring connections for tightness, including the battery terminals and the main earth connection to the bodyshell/ engine.
