Mend Subaru Forester X 2004 Noise Coming Wheel

subaru forester x 2004?

any suggestions as to whats causing a noise coming ,roughly from between steering wheel and the drivers door, to describe the noise I would say it sounded like two light bits of plastic hitting each other very rapidly, its really annoying and has finally got to the stage where I will have to go and do something about it.

Sounds like the speedo surround. There was a Subaru technical bulletin about this known fault. You have to take the speedo binacle out and file it down. The bulletin shows you where to do it.
