Mend Renault Laguna 2.0l Start Idle Time

Renault Laguna 2.0l 1999 - struggles to start & rough idle for a short time?

When i go to start the car it sometimes doesn't start, or takes a while and sometimes starts first time. When it started i gave it a service (plugs / air filter / oil filter/ oil), but this did nothing. Also when i drive the care and pull up to the lights the engine revs to 1,500 and drops to 500 a few times then settles down to 900rpm, when i pull off the car drives normally. Any help would be apreciated.

Sounds like an airflow problem. I would suspect the airflow mass meter or cold start valve. The latter is dirt cheap. If you know of a good mechanic with a diagnostic machine get him or her to read your cars codes. Alternatively your car could be suffering from poor compression but other symptons would usually show too.
