how to fix renault laguna cold starting problem?

My laguna 1.8rt 1996 n reg has developed a cold starting fault. first time i turn it over the engine dosnt start, the second time it will but the engine sounds very lumpy and it struggles to idle then stalls. I can get the car to start successfully by pumping the accelerater to keep the car from staling for about 1 min.after this it finds its idling point at aboy 10,000 revs. once the engine is warm it starts ok every time.the battery is ok and ive changed ht leads and spark plugs but still have the same problem.please can you help with this issue.
