Now then... I had a similar problem on my 1.4 306. First job was to oil the ends of the cable & clutch pedal & arm, no better. Next, I got a new cable from local motor factors (£30), still no better!! Got to be the clutch I thought so had a new one fitted as I was short of time to do it myself (£210), still no better!! So, tried to lengthen clutch arm & more oil, then, as a last ditch idea I oiled & WD40 the original cable, left it to run down the length of cable for a week. When I fitted the original cable back in, I thought one end must have jumped off,,, How light??? So, in short, get a new genuine cable, or oil the one in the car now but you've to take it out to do it properly.... I took cable back to motor factors & got a refund (£30) but still out of pocket eh....
